Serpie Planner - event reports

Vachery Middle Distance Triathlon (21 Jul 2013)

Almost a no-wetsuit swim but the temperature, at 22.8 degrees, was just below the cutoff of 23 degrees where wetsuits were no longer optional. Almost all the field adopted to wear one. Swimming through pond weeds was a new experience, but the water was very clean and the surroundings very pleasant in the spring-fed lake.

The bike leg had one major uphill grind up Leith Hill, but the decent made for some turns, and about a quarter of the course being on closed roads helped too. The out-and-back (twice) run was quite hot work and a fair part was on roads. Not too hilly, so a relatively fast course here.

Generally a really nice atmosphere and good marshalling/amenities made for a nice day out. The non-standard distances (not quite a half-ironman distance) means times aren't all that comparable, but as a lead-in to a later Ironman it seems like a good course/distance to pop in the diary.

[I can send a pic if you like]. There was at least one other Serpie there yesterday - two of us shown on the results page.
