Serpie Planner - event reports
Dartford 10M (16 Jan 2005)
On Sunday morning 14 (well according to the results there were) brave Serpies made the trek out east to Dartford to join almost a 1000 runners participing in the Les Witton Dartford 10 miles (organised by Dartford Runners).
In summary this was a very well organised and marshalled race on an undulating course through some beautiful Kent countryside and some (not so beautiful) Kent urban areas which was, largely, enjoyable to run.
To cut a long story short.. not expecting to win anything (as the race was doubling up as the Kent County Championships we presumed that one of the running clubs from that fair County would clean up) most of us had already left by the time the prize giving took place (I know I had) .... However, only to discover this morning, to our surprise, that Serpentine RC had won the Men's team prize. Congratulations therefore go to Barney Southin, Karim Chebouki, Paul Fromme and Andrew Davies.
From looking at the results I think that Karen Hancock won a prize in her category (Confirmed by Karen as second W45).

Whilst not being a pb course, the Dartford 10 mile race - which is combined with the Kent 10-mile championships - is enjoyable and well-organised. Highlights include: a large field; long-sleeved souvenir T-shirt for all entrants; spot prizes; other Kent champs entrants handily marked out by having to pin a printed sign to their backs showing their age and sex category; 2 water stations; hot showers; ample parking; and bacon butties available (for your supporters) prior to the start. The course has a long, hard hill between miles 4 and 5, and an unwelcome climb to cross the M25 in the final mile, but nothing a few hills sessions wouldn't leave you well-prepared for.

Windy and hilly in parts. Serpentine ladies won team prize, (Louisa Ruderman, Rachel Whittaker, Liu Robinson, Laura Lane) Barney Southin and Louisa Ruderman won 3rd man and woman respectively. A well organised race and friendly club atmosphere.

A new course with plenty of hills. Serpies won the ladies team prize (4 to count).
